"I didn't realize it was a HOSTEL when I booked, which was a bummer. It's very close to the train station and Cologne Cathedral, just a few hundred meters' walk, making transport, shopping, and dining incredibly convenient. The only issue was the lack of air conditioning. To be fair, many buildings in the old town don't have AC, and usually, it's fine. However, Cologne has been exceptionally hot these past few days, in the 30s°C, which was really unbearable. (Normally, it's only around 20°C this time of year, and AC wouldn't be needed at all.) The breakfast was very basic: a few types of bread, three kinds of cold cuts... and there were even signs prohibiting taking too much or wasting food. Honestly, it's not worth spending an extra hundred-plus for such a breakfast. Just a short walk away, McDonald's offers a much more satisfying meal for 10-15 euros. Also, check-in is self-service via a machine, and you have to scan a QR code for breakfast, which clearly saves on staff. However, the staff were relatively friendly and offered services like luggage storage."

In addition, Kira kindly wished her a happy birthday in Korean and took such thoughtful care of us, which made our experience even more special. Thanks to this kindness, the final day of our very first trip to Europe became the happiest and most memorable day of our journey. We sincerely thank Hyatt, as well as the beautiful view of Cologne, for making my wife’s birthday abroad so special. We hope to return again someday."

"Had a wonderful stay at Best Western Plus Hotel. Service is excellent and amenities are 5 star. Bathrobes, towels, slippers, and toiletries are all excellent qualities. Small refrigerator is full of sparkling water bottles, soft drinks and chocolates and all free to consume. Plus Coffee machine with 4 or 5 types of coffee flavors complete with milk or creamer, and also different tea sachets, and chips all free to enjoy and replenish daily. And at the lobby they have a small kiosk with chips, chocolates, and snacks and drinks all free to enjoy. 100% highly recommended. Would book again if ever I visit Cologne."

It’s incredibly convenient if you’re traveling by train or planning to explore the old town on foot. You can easily walk to shops, restaurants, and major attractions in under 10 minutes. 💰 Excellent Value for Money For such a prime central location, the room rate was very affordable. It’s rare to find a hotel this close to the station and city center at such a low price. The room was basic but clean, and included breakfast, which made it an even better deal. 🛏️ Room Tips Rooms facing the street or train station might get a bit noisy, so I recommend asking for a quiet room facing the courtyard if you’re a light sleeper."

"I really wish I could write something positive about this place, but unfortunately my experience was quite a let down. The staff was really nice and friendly, and the beds were comfy. However the "facilities" were a bit amiss: some beds do not have electric sockets. I appreciate that they welcome everyone, but I had two seemingly homeless people in my room, with one seemingly doing some ***** in the bathroom with a quite strong body odor. I don't want to sound judgemental, and people need a place to sleep especially in the cold days, but for someone traveling to Koln alone, exhausted from a long flight, sleeping in a room with two homeless people can be a bit uncomfortable. I wish I didn't have to write this negative review, because I have stayed in other A&O hostels, and all of them including this one had nice staff and plenty of open areas to relax or meet other travelers."

"This is the most satisfying hotel I've ever stayed in in Europe. It's right next to the metro station and only about a 15-minute walk from the main cathedral. The hotel staff were also very friendly, the rooms were spacious, and you could even see a corner of the cathedral. The hotel even provided a complimentary bottle of mineral water and a bottle of soda. Breakfast was also available, but I didn't have time to go. I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in Cologne! 🥰"

"The hotel is very modern inside and very nice decoration. In the lounge there’s a lot of space for a big family to sit and relax and order drinks as well. Nice reception service and the reception people speak English. The hotel is within 20 drive to the city centre of Cologne. Only 2 issues: when we checked in they gave a room that was not cleaned, so we had to wait extra long. And the water glasses in the bathroom don’t seem to be very clean. There is water stain at the bottom. I don’t know how often they clean that."
